Big Chief Hire is looking for a motivated and reliable Yard Hand to join our team at our Burton yard. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping equipment and vehicles clean, well-presented, and ready for hire

Part of the Northeast Auto Group, Big Chief Hire supplies top-tier truck, earth-moving machinery, plant & equipment solutions. Our extensive clientele includes prominent private and government organizations. We exclusively maintain state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring regular servicing and comprehensive safety inspections to guarantee peak performance and security.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available for a Yard person to join our team in Burton, SA. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will also be responsible for performing yard and general housekeeping duties. 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Undertake yard and general housekeeping duties to ensure a safe, clean and well organised work environment
• Clean and prepare fleet & equipment ready for hire.
• Load and unload fleet from vehicles, always ensuring safe loading and unloading procedures are adhered to
• Inspect fleet upon return and immediately report any customer fleet damage to your manager to allow costs to be recouped
• Refuel assets and carry out maintenance.
• Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed and submitted
• Assist mechanics in the workshop
• Occasional deliveries.

• Safety focused with an ability and desire to promote, influence and drive a positive safety culture
• Exceptional customer service skills and ability to build strong working relationships
• Ability to load and unload equipment from vehicles
• Aptitude for hands-on, mechanical / maintenance tasks
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Reliability, self-motivation, punctuality and willingness to work.
