Yard Hand (BCH QLD)

Big Chief Hire is seeking a reliable and hands on Yard Hand to support the day-to-day operations of our busy hire yard. This is a practical, physical role suited to someone who enjoys working around heavy vehicles and machinery and takes pride in keeping equipment and the yard maintained to a high standard.

This position plays a key role in ensuring our fleet of trucks, plant and machinery is organised, presented professionally and ready for hire to civil and construction clients.

About the role

As a Yard Hand, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing trucks, plant and machinery for hire and return
• Coordinating movement of equipment within the yard
• Loading and unloading equipment safely
• Maintaining the overall cleanliness, safety and organisation of the yard
• Supporting workshop staff with general yard and operational duties
• Assisting with basic checks and reporting visible damage or faults
• Pressure washing and detailing equipment prior to dispatch
• Ensuring the wash bay and yard areas are kept tidy and hazard freeAdhering to all safety policies and site procedures
• This is an active role requiring initiative, awareness and the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
  
  
  About you
  
• Previous experience in a yard hand, labouring or equipment handling role highly regarded
• Experience working around heavy vehicles, plant or machinery advantageous
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
• Strong work ethic with a hands on approach
• Good attention to detail and pride in presentation
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and within a team
• Commitment to workplace safety
• Current driver’s licence essential
• HR licence or higher highly desirable
