Workshop Manager

About the Role

As Workshop Manager, you will oversee all aspects of workshop operations, driving productivity, profitability, safety, and service excellence. You'll lead and develop a skilled team of technicians, apprentices, and support staff while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and outstanding customer service.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all day-to-day workshop operations.
  • Drive productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability across the workshop.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of technicians, apprentices, and supervisors.
  • Oversee workshop planning, job allocation, and workflow to maximise capacity and meet customer expectations.
  • Monitor workshop performance, KPIs, and financial results, implementing improvements where required.
  • Champion workplace health and safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Service, Parts, and other departments to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and team performance.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

About You

You're a proven workshop leader with extensive heavy vehicle experience and a track record of leading successful teams. You're commercially minded, passionate about developing people, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where quality and customer satisfaction are key.

 

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Significant experience leading a large automotive or heavy vehicle workshop.
  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Technician (preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing workshop productivity, financial performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to lead change and drive operational excellence.
  • A customer-first mindset with a focus on delivering outstanding service.
