Sales Manager- BCH SA


Based at our Burton site, Big Chief Hire is looking for a driven and experienced Sales Manager to lead our sales team and drive continued business growth. This is a hands-on role focused on winning new business, building strong customer relationships and delivering sales results.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Set clear sales targets, KPIs and activity expectations, and drive the team to achieve them.
  • Identify and develop new customer markets, industries and business opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and develop long-term accounts.
  • Manage incoming enquiries and leads while proactively generating new business.
  • Maintain a strong and healthy sales pipeline and ensure opportunities are actively progressed.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to grow revenue, market share and customer retention.
  • Work closely with the operations and hire teams to ensure customers receive the right equipment and service solutions.
  • Understand customer requirements and provide tailored hire solutions that deliver genuine value.
  • Monitor market activity, competitor movements and emerging opportunities.
  • Use CRM and sales reporting to track performance, identify trends and drive accountability.
  • Work towards and consistently achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales objectives.
  • Represent Big Chief Hire professionally at customer meetings, industry events and within the broader market.
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives and create engaging sales and marketing content to promote the Big Chief Hire brand.

 

About You

This is an outstanding opportunity for a results-focused sales leader who enjoys building relationships, winning new business and developing people.

You’ll be commercially driven, customer-focused and confident taking ownership of a sales department. Experience in equipment hire, construction, transport, earthmoving, access equipment or a related industry will be highly regarded.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in sales management or sales leadership.
  • A strong track record of achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  • Experience within equipment hire, construction, transport, industrial or a related industry is highly desirable.
  • A strong business development mindset with the ability to identify and convert new opportunities.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and closing skills.
  • The ability to coach, motivate and hold a sales team accountable.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to customer requirements.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of sales performance metrics.
  • The ability to interpret data and turn reporting into meaningful sales actions.
  • Confidence dealing with customers at all levels, from small operators through to major commercial accounts.
  • Initiative, energy and a genuine desire to grow the business.
  • The ability to influence and create engaging marketing and sales content.
