Plant Mechanic/Technician- BCH Burton
Big Chief Hire in Burton is looking for a skilled Plant Mechanic / Technician to join our team in a hands-on, field-based role. If you enjoy working with earthmoving equipment, heavy plant and machinery and thrive on variety, this is a great opportunity to put your skills to work. You’ll play a key role in keeping our equipment and customer machinery operating safely, reliably and efficiently, with the opportunity to work across a diverse range of plant and equipment throughout SA.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of earthmoving and heavy plant equipment
- Carrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Troubleshooting breakdowns and getting equipment back up and running efficiently
- Inspecting machinery and identifying potential issues before they become major repairs
- Working on equipment including excavators, loaders, bulldozers and other mobile plant
- Completing service reports, maintenance records and repair documentation
- Travelling to customer sites to carry out repairs and servicing when required
- Working closely with the Big Chief Hire team and customers to deliver quality outcomes
- Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and professional workmanship
What We’re Looking For
- Trade qualification in Mobile Plant Technology, Plant Mechanics, Heavy Diesel or a similar field
- Previous experience working on earthmoving equipment, heavy plant or mobile machinery
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to fault-find, troubleshoot and work through problems independently
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- A professional and reliable approach to working with customers
