About the role

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Mechanical Design Manager / Senior Draftsperson to join our dynamic team, located at our Head Office in Burton, South Australia. This pivotal role involves leading the design and development of various truck bodies, trailers and accessories, ensuring they meet stringent quality, safety, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will have a tertiary education in Mechanical Engineering, Product or Industrial Design and experience in the automotive and transport engineering industry sector

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Leading Design Projects of various truck bodies and trailers ensuring regulatory compliance as specified by NHVR and ADR
  • Developing cost effective design solutions without compromising on quality or performance integrating sustainable design practices and materials to minimise environmental impact
  • Preparation and maintaining detailed design documentation, compliance reports, and technical drawings ensuring they surpass rigorous testing and quality assurance processes to meet the highest standards of quality, reliability and durability.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of compliance checklists, protocols, and procedures for the design process.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to design and production teams regarding design and compliance changes and implications.

 

About you

  • Ability to lead a team of design engineer professionals
  • Strong sense of team work with an ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Sound knowledge and experience using Inventor or other relevant programs
  • Leadership and project management capabilities with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound understanding of engineering principles relating to steel fabrication
