Hydraulic Trades Assistant


Northeast Engineering is seeking skilled Hydraulic Trades Assistants to join our dynamic Burton team, supporting the build and fitment of high-quality customised truck bodies and hydraulic systems for clients across Australia.


About the Role

As a Hydraulic Trades Assistant your primary focus is assisting qualified tradespeople with the fabrication, fitment, and installation of hydraulic systems, truck bodies, and accessories.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting with the fitment and installation of hydraulic systems and components
  • Supporting the build and fitment of tippers, bin lifts, water carts, and related equipment
  • Assisting with hydraulic hose fitment, pumps, valves, cylinders, and custom mounted components
  • Supporting fabrication, assembly, drilling, grinding, and general workshop duties
  • Assisting qualified tradespeople in all aspects of their duties
  • Operating and maintaining tools, machinery, and workshop equipment
  • Following safety protocols and maintaining a clean working environment
  • Performing quality checks and reporting issues appropriately
  • Supporting with general labouring tasks as required

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Experience or interest in hydraulics, fabrication, or truck body fitment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals (desirable)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to workplace safety
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and develop new skills
